schedule

A schedule for upcoming Bitmap NFT drops will be made available on this page, and will be advertised on respective project Threads and Twitter channels.

rarity

Rarity is built into the fabric of each projects distribution model. Ours is based on a serialized approach to NFT art-making: projects being built in series. Rarity in our collections will generally be influenced by three metrics:

Version Rarity

Version rarity will be based on two artwork factors: the degree of dimensionality presented in artwork (such as 2D, 2.5D or 3D imagery), and mime-types (such as .jpgs or .gif files). For example, most of our collections will include a higher distribution of 2D.jpgs (common) and a lower distribution of 2.5D.mp4’s (rare). The source artwork that inspired the series will have a 1/1 distribution (ultrarare), and can be the most coveted NFT of a series.

Order Rarity

The order in which an artwork appears in a series can influence its collector appeal. For instance, the first edition or the first version in any project, series or collaboration may hold higher collector appeal than a mid-series artwork. To emphasise order rarity, all NFT’s are numbered through their blockchain metadata and timestamps. Smaller Bitmap NFT runs will include edition numbering within the work itself, to enhance collection appeal for buyers.

Flavour Rarity: Lolly Scramble

Growing from the Sketchies NFT project (which brings kids drawings to life), we had an idea to use lolly flavours to further enhance rarity (“lollies” are what us kiwi’s call candy). Lolly Scrambles will be an NFT drop with 10 different flavour backgrounds, each with higher degrees of rarity. Some lollies will be common, uncommon, rare, superrare or ultrarare, on top of the existing Version and Order rarities.

Considerations

Beyond rarity, other aspects to consider when collecting is aesthetic appeal, market trends, distribution size and the scalability of the project over time: whether or not it has franchising potential, and the appeal of holding onto a pre-alpha or alpha asset from that franchise.
